Gates of Paradise at Seattle Art Museum

One of the most celebrated works of the Italian Renaissance, "The Gates of  Paradise: Lorenzo Ghiberti's Renaissance Masterpiece," is now on view until April 6 at the downtown Seattle Art Museum. Once the panels conclude their tour in the United States, They will be installed in the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo in Florence, never to travel again. According to SAM's website, "Michelangelo is credited with dubbing them ,the gates of paradise,' and sixteenth-century artist and writer Giorgio Vasari called them 'the finest masterpiece ever created, either in ancient or modern times.' PONCHO announces artist of the year

PONCHO just announced Patti Warashina as the 2008 PONCHO Artist of the Year. A Washington native, ceramic sculptor Patti Warashina taught at the UW for 30 years. Patti has a long and respected resume in the arts. Her work is included in the collections of The Smithsonian, the Museum of Art and Design New York, The Mint Museum, The Los Angeles County Art Museum and Perth Cultural Center.

Happy ending? in the art world

Rosemary Maxwell made the mistake of trusting a so-called "friend" to sell her art collection and ended up with nothing after four years.
