Issues of Periodization and Categorization in Modern Chinese Painting: A Symposium in Honor of Michael Sullivan takes place at the Seattle Asian Art Museum in the Stimson Auditorium.Leading scholars and artists gather to discuss and assess modern Chinese paintings in their historical contexts during this two-day symposium. Puget Soundscape: A Community Celebration of Puget Sound through Art, Ecology and Culture will witness a joint effort and comprehensive experience offered by many of Seattle's leading cultural, educational, and governmental organizations to help people better understand the Puget Sound watershed and its far reaching impact and influences. The kick-off party, hosted by Pioneer Square Community Association, takes place in Occidental Park on Saturday, June 2, 2007 from 6-9pm for an evening dancing under the stars to jazz music by Sonando. Many of Seattle's leading art galleries will present exhibitions around the Puget Sound theme and/or partner with a non-profit environmental group that works on behalf of Puget Sound.
