admission to all from Saturday, November 24- Friday, November 30.
Closed Monday, November 26. Every 20th visitor will receive free Wing
Luke Asian Museum merchandise. Daily activities planned. Last day to
visit is November 30th. Stop by, partake in special activities and say
goodbye to the space before the museum moves to its new home expected
to open in May 2008. The new museum will then be located at the East
Kong Yick Building, 719 South King Street in the Chinatown/
International District. Renovation of the historic building is 80%
complete.

In conjunction with the exhibition "Japan Envisions the West," Seattle Art Museum presents a symposium on Japanese art made in response to contact with Western arts, culture, and science in the pre-modern age. Six brilliant scholars from Japan, the Netherlands and the United States will present their research and discuss the themes of the exhibition in panel discussions. Museum of Glass in Tacoma is sponsoring a glass-blowing competition this weekend, November 23 and 24. Two teams of artists will muster their muscles and innovation as they attempt to
create the biggest glass ornament ever blown. The biggest and best of these ornaments will be donated to Festival
of Trees, the annual fundraising gala for Mary Bridge Childrens Hospital in
Tacoma. Don't forget to check out the museum store for special holiday gifts.

Season of Light Auction featuring the 29th Annual Festival of Trees,
"Let the Season Begin" is held in Seattle's most elegant venue, The Fairmont
Olympic Spanish Ballroom. Preview Night, November 20th from 5:30 - 8pm,

Included in the evenings revenues was $113,500 which will go directly to arts education programs around the state. The arts education appeal was presented by Steve Pool with a moving performance by cellist prodigy, Lennart Jansson (age 14) Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestras.

Lisa Harris Gallery just announced the passing of long-time gallery member, John Cole. The Northwest painter died Tuesday evening in Bellingham at the age of 71. The artist had suffered for three three years from Lewy Body Disease, a degenerative neurological condition. Cole's work conveys the essence of the Northwest, its big trees, majestic waterfalls, rushing rivers, and unspoiled lake and mountain vistas. A central figure in the close-knit art community of Bellingham and the Skagit Valley, his work is collected nationally. His works were included in exhibitions at the Frye, Whatcom and Tacoma Art Museums in Washington and at the Portland Art Museum in Oregon Lisa Harris mounted his first Seattle solo exhibition in 1989 and showed the work regularly for 18 years.
